A winter hike to Westerhever lighthouse

frost on the bare branches and a bright January sun on the dike landscape of Westerhever. From the parking lot at Info -Hus, it is wrapped up against the direction of dyke crossing and then out into the vastness of the foothills. Ice blinking against the light, from which the world-famous Lighthouse Ensemble peels out. In a wide berth, we followed the prescribed path on gray plates, accompanied on either side of shimmering frozen ditches and puddles. The lighthouse moves closer. Finally, we are moving up the mound and pass through the ajar Zauntor.
rises the mighty red and white giant in the blue sky and sharp shadows of throwing himself. On the northwest horizon a white excursion boat takes its course in Heverstrom. One can see the faint horizon lines and Pellworm Süderoogsand, it almost completely submerged in the haze, the characteristic Holzbake.
A few young people from the guard station to make their bikes and backpacks daily "shore " clear. It must be bought in the 12 km Garding - a pleasure for hardy natures.
blowing around the impressive buildings of today no wind, frost mood of the scene is over, life seems to be frozen.
only one or two couples scattered tourists roam over terrain, take photos and walk slowly back to the way they came. Unfortunately, the historic floor staircase is still closed due to lack of bridges. Otherwise, the walk to the trail would have been interesting. No matter. The joy of silence and distance world predominates in this place, for even during the return of the dike. Now that the warm sun in the neck, we feel that it soon will be spring.
