More Safety for the New Jewish Cemetery
The Friends of Dresden Synagogue Association asking for donations for the renovation of the arson attack by the 29th August 2010 destroyed the entrance portal of the funeral hall and to increase the security on the New Jewish Cemetery (Fiedler Road) in Dresden-Johann city. The funeral hall (former Synagogue) in the New Jewish Cemetery in Dresden-Johann city was on Sunday morning target of arson attacks. Here, the portal was destroyed. That an even greater damage could be averted, a 66-year-old passer-by is due to the noticed the smoldering and informed the fire brigade. The fire was extinguished in time to the spread of flames on the former synagogue (1950 - 2001) to prevent. Nevertheless, the damage was from 5000 €.
The Executive Board of the Friends of Dresden Synagogue Association condemned the arson attack on behalf of the members in the strongest terms. He is not just an attack on the Jewish community in Dresden, but also to the joint German-Jewish history and culture.
